Daniel Mazanec focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation before both state and federal court. Dan has represented financial institutions, corporations and manufacturers in commercial contract disputes, class actions, product liability cases and multidistrict litigation He also has experience representing debtors and creditors in adversary proceedings and other bankruptcy-related matters.
Daniel is recognized as a Rising Star in the 2011 edition of New York Super Lawyers – Metro Edition magazine featuring outstanding young lawyers, a distinction that recognizes New York lawyers under the age of 40 or those in practice for 10 years or less, and was also named in Ohio Super Lawyers – Rising Stars 2009.
Dan is a member of the Federal and Dade County Bar Associations.
Representative Experience
- Obtaining summary judgment for Japan’s second largest steel manufacturer in a breach of contract dispute arising over responsibility for environmental liabilities.
- Obtaining reversal by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals of a district court’s order certifying a 29-jurisdiction class action alleging consumer fraud by a Fortune 50 retailer.
- Obtaining summary judgment of a world-renowned entertainer in a contract dispute in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
- Assisting in the representation of four large national and state lending institutions in multimillion-dollar multidistrict litigation involving claims made under financial guarantees in the form of surety bonds.
- Achieving a favorable settlement for a large regional lending institution in a lawsuit involving multiple state and federal claims arising out of a mortgage loan origination.
- Obtaining dismissal of claims against a leading aerospace company in an employer intentional tort action.
- Successfully representing a vocal group seeking release from its management and production contracts in a pro bono matter.
