Damond Mace has been using creativity and passion for his clients’ goals to win jury trials and appeals in state and federal courts across the country for more than 30 years. He has extensive experience representing clients in commercial contract disputes, general commercial litigation, UCC, class actions, MDLs, product liability, premises liability and tort actions.

Damond is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has been repeatedly named in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America, with special recognition for bet-the-company litigation, products liability litigation and commercial litigation.

His broad litigation experience also includes real estate, intellectual property, trademark/trade secrets, environmental/pollution, shareholder disputes, construction, qui tam, wrongful death, banking, wrongful discharge, royalty disputes and antitrust.

An honors chemistry major in undergraduate school, Damond has used his scientific knowledge and analytical skills to simplify complex issues for juries and judges.

  • In 2014, lead trial counsel for BP in a US$256 billion False Claims Act case that involved the Atlantis Oil Platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Took and defended key depositions used to obtain summary judgment shortly before trial.
  • In 2013 and 2014, lead trial counsel and obtained defense verdicts for BP in Galveston, Texas in first two bellwether jury trials in 45,000 case state court MDL seeking US$10 billion.
  • In 2012, obtained a unanimous defense verdict for a client sued by a French children’s entertainment company that was seeking more than US$100 million or specific performance on a failed deal over intellectual property rights.
  • In 2005, obtained a US$9.3 million verdict in favor of a client involved in a contract dispute over the supply of integrated circuits. 
  • In 2001, was awarded the National Law Journal’s Defense Win of the Month and one of the Top Defense Wins of 2001 for a unanimous defense jury verdict obtained on a US$176 million claim in the US District Court, Eastern District of Texas.
  • Has also won a number of wrongful death jury trials and cases in the Ohio Supreme Court and the Indiana Supreme Court.
