Stacy D. Ballin specializes her litigation practice on complex commercial contract disputes including complex valuation issues that arise in such disputes. In addition, over the course of 28 years, she has accumulated diverse litigation experience in many areas including professional liability litigation and environmental litigation. Stacy has successfully handled jury trials and appeals in state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations, mediations and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Stacy has served as trial and appellate counsel to public and private sector clients and prosecuted and defended multimillion-dollar lawsuits. She has briefed and argued cases in federal and state courts of appeals and prepared petitions for writ of certiorari in the US Supreme Court.
Stacy received an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell and is included in the inaugural edition of Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers. She is also regularly named an Ohio Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters. She is a guest lecturer on appellate brief writing at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and regularly serves as a judge during the semifinals in the law school’s Dean Dunmore Moot Court competition. Stacy recently funded and endowed an annual award to be known as the “Stacy D. Ballin Brief Writing Award” which will be awarded each year to the student submitting the best appellate brief in the moot court competition.
In addition to maintaining an active trial docket, Stacy is very active in implementing and improving project management tools and processes to maximize client value and efficiencies. She was one of the first three lawyers to receive Certified Legal Project Manager status through a rigorous program offered by LegalBizDev. Stacy is also Squire Sanders’ Litigation Group Business Partner and, as part of the Executive Team, responsible for the business operations of the Litigation Practice Group.
