Daniel Q. Callister
Daniel Callister is a seasoned adviser to the government of Kuwait. He has provided services to its embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Kuwait Investment Authority and Ministry of Oil on a variety of matters.
Daniel is a cofounder and 10-year member of the executive committee of Kuwait America Foundation, a prominent nonprofit organization designed to enhance relationships between the two countries. The foundation was involved in the Citizens for a Free Kuwait campaign in Washington DC during the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait.
Daniel’s international tax and international business experience includes handling tax planning for offshore entities acquiring major American companies; negotiating a unique and favorable settlement of an audit of the largest investment bank in the Middle East; supervising tax and corporate planning for the creation of offshore investment funds; and establishing hundreds of offshore investment vehicles in the United States by Arab investors.
He has also been involved in the representation of the government of Kuwait in resolving large-scale disputes with American companies, litigating an OPEC-related dispute and preparing for negotiations regarding oil-related leases to American companies; served as lead counsel in an effort to take public a Kuwaiti government-owned American steel company; and provided advice to the country of Saudi Arabia regarding possible negotiation of a bilateral tax treaty with the United States.
Daniel has provided ongoing advice and supervised a variety of projects for clients in the Florida sugar industry including the successful litigation of an environmental case against the US government regarding the impact of sugar industry runoff on the Everglades. He is supervising a major litigation between a sugar promotional association and a worldwide branded healthcare products company regarding the marketing of one of its products.
