David Holland is a lawyer in our Property @ction team specialising in a broad range of property related disputes and regularly acts for both private and public sector clients.
His particular experience is focused on landlord and tenant disputes including commercial lease renewals, dilapidations claims, breach of covenant issues and residential tenancy disputes.
David also regularly advises parties in compulsory purchase compensation claims and has experience of dealing with matters in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber). He also has experience of advising clients in the energy sector in relation to claims for compensation under the Electricity Act 1989.
David has experience of advising landowners in disputes arising from applications to register land as town and village greens under the Commons Act 2006. He also assists in advising clients in relation to challenges to public procurement procedures undertaken by public bodies.
In addition, David also has experience of advising clients in consumer credit related disputes.
David is a member of the Property Litigation Association.

- Acting for Royal Mail in contested and uncontested lease renewal proceedings.
- Acting for a large UK newspaper company in advising on a range of commercial property disputes, including exercise of tenant break options and breach of covenant disputes.
- Acting for a Regional Development Agency in contested lease renewal proceedings relating to a property in Sheffield.
- Acting for private landowners in a successful claim for compulsory purchase compensation against a UK rail company that was referred to the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).
- Acting for a Regional Development Agency in defending compulsory purchase compensation claims with an initial estimated value of approximately £2 million.
- Advising a major electricity distribution company on its strategy for dealing with compensation claims under the Electricity Act 1989.
- Acting for a Regional Development Agency in successfully bringing proceedings to recover possession of land from trespassers.
- Advising several landlords and private management companies on a range of residential tenancy disputes, including the recovery of possession of properties let under Assured Shorthold tenancies, defending tenancy deposit proceedings brought under the Housing Act 1988 and the recovery of residential service charge arrears.
