Construction Litigation
Squire Sanders’ Litigation and International Dispute Resolution & Non-US Litigation (IDR) Practice Groups have a wide array of experience in the construction dispute resolution field, with particular emphasis representing project owners and their agents in complex disputes. We have experience representing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors in the unique and varied disputes that arise when such EPC contractors have subcontracted construction portions of their projects to general contractors.
Our construction dispute lawyers literally span the globe, recently representing project owners in complex disputes in places as diverse as Ohio, Mexico, China and California. Regardless of location, we have the resources and expertise to get the right people on the ground to support our clients including a strong group of traditional construction litigators and one of the most experienced and acclaimed IDR groups in the world. Lawyers from these groups routinely work in combination to provide truly exceptional client service for international construction disputes. In addition, whether for a domestic or international dispute, our construction litigation group often is augmented by lawyers in the firm with related experience in environmental, labor, public sector and real estate law, as well as bankruptcy and financing experts. Our firm has also developed proven electronic discovery tools to isolate and identify relevant and material information in a cost-effective and timely manner. We often work closely with scheduling and forensic accounting experts during discovery to save costs and to properly develop the factual record underlying construction disputes.
Our geographic reach is immense, but so is the scope of clients we represent and their projects. Recent construction dispute representations include professional sports complexes, such as a Major League Baseball spring training facility in Arizona; significant civic institutions, such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum; energy facilities, such as a major pipeline infrastructure project in Northern Mexico and a 790 MW power plant in Iowa; major commercial buildings; healthcare provider facilities, such as buildings for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; and numerous municipal and school facilities in Ohio, Florida and Arizona.
