Christian Hausmann

Christian Hausmann is a dual national (German, French), a law graduate in France and in the US (New York University). Since 1972, he practised as “Conseil juridique” with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton (New York, Brussels, Paris). In 1979, he joined Banque Rothschild as a Vice President and after that moved to Michelin Clermont-Ferrand. In 1983, he was seconded to Michelin Tyre Inc. for three years, based in New York, as General Counsel North America.
He was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1987 and since then been involved in corporate finance and international dispute resolution, specializing in particular in industrial and construction transactions and disputes. This latter area has brought significant experience in arbitration and ADR. He is listed as an arbitrator with the French National Committee of the International Arbitration Court of the ICC and major arbitrations centres in the world.
In parallel, he taught as associated Professor at the University of Strasbourg and thereafter at Cergy-Pontoise University. He is a member of various trade associations and institutions (FEEF, ASA, CMAP, IAI, DIS, AFA, CIETAC, ANM, HK Chamber of Commerce).
Over the last 20 years, he has conducted more than 50 international arbitrations.

- Co-author of a handbook on representations and warranties in corporate finance ("Les Garanties de passif"), 3rd edition, 2007 by LITEC-EFE
- Participation in various arbitration and mediation seminars
- Numerous contributions in law reviews including Journal des Sociétés, Gazette du Palais, JCPE, Capital Finance, Revue de l’Entreprise and Droit et Patrimoine.
- Co-editor of La Revue, monthly publication of Squire Sanders.
Representative Experience
- Advocating in several major international arbitrations, including ICC administered cases.
- Acting as president and sole arbitrator in ICC proceedings, involving parties from Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia.
- Acting on a regular basis as neutral in ADR.
- Advising on transnational corporate transactions and industrial restructurings, in particular involving targets and representing clients in Germany.
- Assisting clients in various industry sectors including life sciences, automotive, food and beverage.
