Barbara Bolton Litten

Principal

Barbara Bolton Litten focuses her practice on litigation, concentrating on complex and multidistrict litigation, product liability, ERISA, commercial and media matters. She has significant experience in the defense of clients in federal and multidistrict litigation in the product liability area, especially related to prescription medications and medical devices.

Barbara serves on the board of directors of Southern Legal Counsel, Inc., a not-for-profit public interest law firm that provides legal representation to those who otherwise would not have access to the justice system, including children and the disabled, and whose cases bring about systemic reform. Barbara also serves on the board of directors of Hospice of Palm Beach County, a not-for profit organization that provides comprehensive services and support to patients at the end of life.

Barbara is a member of the Federal and Palm Beach County Bar Associations, and of the Defense Research Institute.

Representative Experience

    • Defending numerous claims in federal and multidistrict litigation against sellers of prescription medications, over-the-counter products and medical devices including Trasylol®, Baycol®, PPA-containing products, Factor VIII blood clotting products and VIOXX®.
    • Defending claims in commercial litigation against insurance and corporate clients including ERISA, fraud class actions, coverage cases and sales practices investigations.
    • Counseling both corporate and media clients on libel and privacy defense as well as access to public records and open meetings.
