Archana Gupta

Associate

Archana Gupta is an associate in Squire Sanders’ pensions practice based in our London office. Archana’s experience encompasses topical areas of pension law and queries relating to individual members of pension plans including mergers, enhanced transfer value exercises and death benefits. She advises individual trustees and corporate trustees, as well as employers, regarding defined benefit and defined contribution arrangements.

Representative Experience

    • Assisting on a scheme rescue involving the pension scheme of a publicly funded private company that had gone insolvent, as a result of which the scheme itself had entered a pension protection fund (PPF) assessment period.
    • Advising on the impact of legislative changes including new drawdown options for members and self certification of schemes in relation to auto-enrolment.
    • Assessing compliance with new legislation of various schemes’ existing provisions relating to maternity and paternity leave.
    • Considering the PPF levy implications of scheme status, particularly that of closed and paid-up schemes.
    • Drafting member communications on retirement options in the light of age discrimination case law.
