Anne Pickering focuses her practice on shipping law litigation and arbitration. She has advised clients in arbitrations before the London Marine Arbitrators Association (LMAA) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), and in High Court proceedings.
Anne represents ship owners, charterers, and P&I Clubs on a variety of maritime matters including disputes involving charter party and subrogation in marine insurance issues. She also coordinates technical and witness evidence in commercial shipping litigation.
Representative Experience

Assisting in an application for a freezing order and preparing London arbitration submissions for owners in a dispute over cancellation of a 10-year charter party by charterers involving more than US$50 million and including arrest proceedings in India and South Africa and litigation in the High Court of Singapore.

Handling a large scale disclosure exercise and coordinating witness evidence in a US$10 million shipping insurance action in the High Court.

Assisting in an arbitration on behalf of charterers involving a contract of affreightment and assessment of damages on different shipping routes.

Assisting in an arbitration on behalf of ship owners involving calculation of demurrage and issues of proper loading and management of sensitive cargo.

Drafting advice on unsafe port and implied indemnity cases including a fraudulent pollution claim by port authorities in Angola against an oil tanker.

Assisting in the preparation of a legal expert's report for the High Court in Bombay in a case involving the scope of the doctrine of subrogation and its application in India.

Assisting in a High Court application under Section 32 of the Arbitration Act involving issues of severability, disclosure and the duties of a ship broker negotiating for both parties.
