Amit Ingle

Amit Ingle is a member of our Pensions Practice Group. Amit has extensive experience advising UK-based and international clients on scheme contributions, funding, closures, documentation and wind-ups. He regularly counsels clients on business and asset acquisitions on share purchases. He advises trustees on transitioning their defined benefit schemes into the Pension Protection Fund or the Financial Assistance Scheme. Amit also counsels administering authorities, scheme employers and admission bodies within the Local Government Pension Scheme on a wide range of pensions matters including negotiating admission agreements.
Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Amit worked on the pensions team of an international law firm.
Amit is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and a committee member of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI), West Midlands region.
Representative Experience
- Advising employers and trustees on using the Consumer Price Index as the measure of price inflation for the purposes of regulating private sector occupational pension schemes.
- Counseling the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners on paying pension contributions during periods of paid and unpaid maternity, paternity and adoption leave in the UK, Spain, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
- Advising the US parent of a major global automotive parts supplier on its intention to place substantial assets into an escrow arrangement including drafting associated documentation and negotiating suitable terms with the escrow agent and the trustee’s legal advisers.
- Advising the Europe-based arm of a major electronics manufacturer in Japan on reapportioning the debt due under Section 75 of the Pensions Act 1995 in respect of each of the employers participating in four different UK “frozen” defined benefit pension schemes including drafting all appropriate documentation.
- Advising one of the parties in the merger of two of the UK’s leading mobile operators on the implications of a bulk transfer without consent of members from one defined benefit pension scheme to another including drafting the four-party transfer deed.
- Counseling employers and trustees on the prospect of making a successful professional negligence claim against the historic legal and actuarial advisers for failing to advise and properly document the equalization of normal retirement ages between men and women in the pension scheme’s trust deed and rules.
