Adam Langridge is a partner in the Energy & Utilities Practice based in the London office. He has extensive experience advising on wholesale energy and carbon trading, power purchase and fuel supply contracts, fossil fuel and renewable power generation projects and upstream oil and gas. He joined Squire Sanders as a partner from EDF Energy plc, where he was promoted to the role of principal solicitor, energy branch. Adam trained at Denton Hall and qualified into the firm’s Energy and Infrastructure team. During his time at Denton Hall he spent a period working in Tokyo, Japan as a seconded legal adviser to Nissho Iwai Corporation.

Advising the developer of a 200,000 tonne/annum bio-ethanol production facility on structured feedstock supply contracts for wheat, long-term off-take arrangements with a privately owned international commodities business, storage and haulage arrangements and a by-product sales agreement with Europe’s largest coal-fired power station. The project was later abandoned due to volatile wheat prices.

Advising a multinational chemicals company in relation to its long-term take-or-pay arrangements for the supply of up to 11 million m3 per annum of hydrogen gas via a dedicated high-pressure pipeline located in Belgium.

Advising EDF Energy plc in relation to the disposal by it of a 33 percent equity interest in the 688MW gas-fired Medway Power Station to Scottish & Southern Energy plc and the acquisition of additional equity (from administrators) in Barking Power Ltd, the owner of a 1000MW CCGT plant located on the outskirts of London.
